Field Edge is a 100% Annual seed blend for planting in open areas that has good soil moisture and easily workable land. Field Edge contains, a balanced level of hybrid plants that grow HUGE in only 70 days and should be planted by every beginner plotter. We like to call this plot our confidence booster. If you have never plotted before, you’re going to LOVE this Field Edge Plot. There is a special variety of turnip in this blend for late season food, but you should look at adding Big-Uns Radish to increase the forage available.

Additional Information

You can provide 40,000 pounds of food per acre in the duration of 2 months to increase the health of the herd in as little as 4 hours of planting time with our Field Edge Food Plot. It doesn’t take long, it’s relatively easy to do and if you haven’t food plotted before its very enjoyable after seeing the use that your herd gets out of the little amount of time put in.

Start planning now, take the summer to prep the location, and make your fall experience a good one by planting this confidence booster, Field Edge.

Before planting you MUST follow the Rack Stacker 6 Ps to plotting. Proper, Preparation, and Patience, Prevents, Poor, Plotting.

If you follow these instructions (also on the back of the bag) and don’t cut any corners, it will grow for you and produce great results throughout the summer into fall and for late season hunting so you can harvest that buck of a lifetime and get the fawns into the winter in good health.

Planting Time: Best time to plant Field Edge is in the late parts of the summer as long as there is good moisture in the soils. You can plant into the fall if you have sufficient rain in the area. If you want large plant growth in a very short amount of time we plant in late July or early August here in South Eastern Ontario. The Rack Stacker Guy prefers to plant his in Early August for lush green growth for the early hunt, but your best to try and get it in early July if you live in the northern regions of Saskatchewan, Alberta or other provinces like Quebec or Northern New Brunswick. Southern areas like Quebec, South Ontario or Nova Scotia you can plant this up until Sept long weekend.

Preparation: You really want to make the best seed to soil contact as possible when planting Field Edge. Spraying the plot with a herbicide is best, you don’t want weeds competing for moisture and nutrients on the field with Field Edge. After spraying, using a set of disks, plows or cultivators work the ground. As long as you have something that can scar the ground enough to allow the seed to have good seed to soil contact then you will be successful with Rack Stacker Field Edge. Before seeding down your plot you want to drag the soils as level as possible. The smoother the soils the better to prevent channeling during the rain and keep the birds from eating your seeds. You don’t want to plow the seeds under. You only want to make the seed hit the ground, and then pack it to the ground with a roller or a culti-packer.

Time Needed: If I spray 2 weeks prior to working the land, I can have it in the ground,(disking, dragging, seeding and packing) in 4 hours. Not a lot of time for a ½ acre plot when you thing about the 40,000lbs of forage it can produce in 70 days. that’s a lot of food available for your herd throughout the year.

Seeding Rate/Coverage:  Using a hand broadcast spreader 2.5lbs will plant 1/3 acre. 10lbs per acre is recommended.

Calculating Square Footage: Measure the location of your plot. Length multiplied by Width divided by 43,560 that will give you the size of your plot (Ex. 121ft X 121ft=14,641sq ft= 1/3 of an acre) you will be able to plant 14,641 sq ft if you plant 2.5lb Field Edge. Be sure to plant the right amount of seed for the area that you are working with. Field Edge Gets Huge fast so you need to make sure you give it enough room to grow over a 60-70 day period.

Fertilizer: Its recommended that you fertilize 3-4 weeks after planting the plot. 300lbs of fertilizer to the acre to get maximum growth of 18-18-18 (or equivalent %) sometimes what we like to do is split that up to two different applications. 150lb of 18-18-18 2-3 weeks after seeding and 150lbs approx 6-8 weeks after seeding this will quickly improve nutrient absorption in your plot and rapidly grow throughout the summer months. Driving on the plants to fertilize is ok, they will bounce back pretty quick.

Maintenance: Nothing needs to be done after laying the seed on your plot besides fertilizer (see above). This is an annual planting and doesn’t need any maintenance accept for fertilize that is listed on the bag when you purchase it. You can plant Field Edge 3 years in a row but you will want to have a rotation in the crop after 2-3 years to give the soils a break, Superbuck is a great alternative.

Benefit: You can provide 40,000 pounds of food in the duration 2 months to increase the health of the herd in as little as 4 hours with our Field Edge Food Plot. It doesn’t take long, it’s easy to do and if you haven’t food plotted before its very enjoyable after seeing the use that your herd gets out of the little time put in.

Advantage: In conjunction with the Food plots, to utilize the optimum growth of the herd, try our mineral and attract them to your location right away. Instant, all season attraction with the potent scent of the mineral as well as High Vitamins to get those deer into the Canadian winter in tip top shape.
