Refrax Underspin Jig

When fish are keyed in on bait but won’t commit, an underspin becomes the difference-maker. The REFRAX UNDERSPIN is built for those situations—adding just enough flash and vibration to trigger reaction bites without overpowering the presentation.

It excels when fishing swimbaits through suspended fish, along edges, or over structure, where a steady retrieve with subtle flash can turn followers into eaters. The blade tracks cleanly at any speed, whether you’re slow-rolling deep or covering water higher in the column.

This setup is especially effective when targeting suspended bass in 10–20+ feet of water, particularly during fall and spring feeding windows when fish are actively chasing bait like shad, bluegill, or crappie. In clear water, the blade’s flash draws fish from a distance, making it a strong option in bright conditions. It’s particularly effective for spotted bass and smallmouth in deeper water, but equally reliable across all species.

The hook features a wider bend to accommodate bulkier soft plastics, keeping the point exposed and improving hook-up rates, while the bait remains securely in place—reducing the need for constant adjustment after each bite.

The titanium arm plays a key role in real fishing conditions: it flexes on the strike to avoid interfering with the hook set, then immediately returns to position for consistent performance cast after cast.

A slow, steady retrieve is the go-to for keeping the blade spinning, while a countdown approach helps you target specific depths where fish are holding. Pair it with a 3–4 inch paddle tail swimbait to match common forage. Use lighter weights like 3/16 or 1/4 oz for general scenarios, and step up to 3/8 oz or heavier when fishing deeper water or maintaining speed in current. Around cover such as vegetation, docks, or timber, a weedless setup helps reduce snags, while open water calls for an exposed hook to maximize hook-up ratio.

This is the jighead you reach for when you need to combine attraction and control—especially in pressured water, changing light conditions, or when fish are tracking but not committing.
